February Album Writing Month

I'm participating in an event that frankly terrifies me. I've heard about it for years, but never thought I could actually do it: February Album Writing Month, shortened to FAWM . . . which I have a very hard time typing, since to me it looks like a typo of my name. So over the 28 days of February, I've committed to writing 14 songs!

There's no prize for participating. There's no penalty for missing the mark. But I like to follow through on the goals I set.

I'm taking the name of "album-writing" with a grain of salt. The songs I write will not likely be cohesive enough to form an album. But writing 14 songs in a month seems like a great way to explore some new ideas, get the creative juices flowing, and flex that creative muscle.

If you want to follow along, I'll be posting (rough!) demos on my SoundCloud page. The first one I completed on February 1st is called "You'd Be Amazed" and I was aiming for an Everly Brothers vibe for the new singing duo I'm starting.

And here's a shoutout to Yukon Women in Music for encouraging its members to participate in this event. I wouldn't have done it without getting that little push!
