It's that time of year again: time for the giving of gifts!

I loved sharing Christmas with you last year by recording I Wonder as I Wander with Daniel Janke, so we decided to it again! I chose a traditional French carol this year: Noël nouvelet, which means "New Christmas" in Old French. The song was written in the late 1400s and there are dozens of variations on the lyrics. I just discovered today (how did I miss this?!) that there is an English version called Sing We Now of Christmas. We decided to keep things simple, with just Daniel on piano and me on vocals and glockenspiel.

Although I've often been told my French singing is almost accentless, if you're a French speaker, you may notice there's (at least) one word that I didn't learn quite right and gives me away as a non-native speaker. Perhaps it will make you smile when you hear it, as it does me.

New Christmas, Christmas we sing here, 
Devout people, let us shout our thanks to God!
