A place for music

I have been a blogger for over five years now, but this past year there have been many posts floating around in my head that have gone unwritten.  That isn't only because my life as a mother, wife, employee, and musician keeps me busy.  It's also because some of those posts have been about music, about my personal discoveries and delights in the jazz genre, or in songwriting.  Many of the people who read my personal blog (Fawnahareo's Place) wouldn't know what I was talking about, because they would only make sense to a trained musician. Jazz, in particular, makes so much use of music theory, so there was no one I could exclaim to when I discovered that all the music theory I studied years ago for my Royal Conservatory exams finally appeared to have a purpose.  Too bad I pretty much forgot it all again, since none of it had any application to real life. Since most of these revelations make no sense for non-musicians, I wouldn't blame anyone for tuning out if I started to write about the fascinating relationship between an A-diminished chord and an F-dominant.  Or the funkiness of tritone substitutions. I may not get quite that technical here, but with the creation of this dedicated music page, there's finally a dedicated place for my music in the blogosphere.  Now there's something to sing about.
