New album coming: Pairings!

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I had a date set to record for my new album. My recording date at Canterbury Music Company was such a blast. I hadn't slept much the night before, having gone to see Stevie Wonder in concert, but in spite of my short sleep rations, it was a very productive day and we got five tracks "in the can". I have plans for another track or two and then we'll be into the post-production phase.

This album has been several years in the making. I didn't have a particular release schedule in mind, so I simply recorded new material whenever the opportunity arose to work with musicians I love and admire. But now the pace is picking up . . . Pairings will be out in April!

The "pairings" theme has been so much fun play with! The album is a collection of songs that pairs my voice with an instrument. There is vocal+bass, vocal+guitar, vocal+piano, vocal+drums, a vocal duet, plus vocal+sax trio!

I'm so excited to tell you all about the tunes I chose and the great musicians I got to work with, so I'll be doing that over the next couple of months. But in the meantime, tell me about some of your favourite pairings! Maybe it's the classic peanut butter and jelly, or thunder and lightning, Chet Baker by a fireplace, or, as the song says, "a wink and a smile".
